With nearly 10 years of experience leading the events division for the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, Vanessa Gonzalez has gained a reputation for creating innovative, dynamic, and press-worthy affairs ranging from large-scale, celebrity-driven opening galas to intimate and exclusive donor dinners. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role establishing MOCA as the museum with hip signature events, resulting in a significant membership increase that encouraged community interest and recruited new corporate sponsorships.
Gonzalez’s vision has placed MOCA in the forefront of the country’s contemporary art institutions as a stage for hosting groundbreaking music talents like Grandmaster Flash, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and many more. Among her extensive portfolio of event design, she spearheaded the highly publicized gala for Takashi Murakami that featured a performance by Kanye West and honored Marc Jacobs. The Los Angeles Times credited Gonzalez as “the museum’s events specialist” known for making “MOCA one of the hottest social tickets in town”.
Known for her keen sense of personal style and for having an intense eye to detail, Gonzalez’s fashion for her events generate as much buzz as the parties she produces. With an impressive repertoire that has garnered attention by Angeleno, In Style, L’uomo Vogue, and other media, she has taken her flair for fashion to television by joining the cast of Bravo’s newest competition reality series, Launch My Line, hosted by Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2. The show takes 10 industry professionals and pairs them with established fashion designers to develop a line of clothing.
In June 2009, Gonzalez launched her own design and events production company, fox on the run. Providing full service in producing events, she is highly regarded for bringing east coast style to the emerging art scene in Los Angeles, and her work continues to be emulated by other companies, non-profits and art institutions, nationally and overseas.
